I just used the Browse Backup feature on Rebit 5.
I like to sort things by date. After right-clicking the header bar to add the "Date Modified" field, I clicked on the new heading and found that while the order of the files changed, they were not sorted by date. The order seeed totally random. Clicking on the name of the file and the size of the file does sort things as one would expect.
Does anyone know why sorting does not work on the date field?
I also tried this with the "Date Created" field and could not achieve proper sorting for that column either.

I just downloaded the trial and set it to back up my C drive and D drive. Both are checked. The C drive was backed up. The D drive is still checked, but it was not backed up. Or at least I can't see it when I browse the back up. Is it that the trial version won't back up a second drive or is it something else? Each of the two drives is about 80G of data and the back up drive is 750G so space is not the issue. I think I want to purchase the software, but not if it can't back up the D drive also which is where much of my data is stored.

Hello, I am running Rebit 5 with W7 Ultimate. Now I need a solution that allows me to make also full System Backups.... Acronis might not be a solution, also I do not like W7 Backup. What's your recommondation? And how to proceed with Rebit 5 while a full Backup (means a second Backup) is running in parallel?

Since Outlook OST files are constantly changing, my 2 gig OST file will keep Rebit going 8 hours per day. I assume emails are therefore not backed up immediately. Does rebit have a strategy for back up that prevents constant backup of OST files? What is the backup frequency for Outlook files?

If the remote (USB) remote disk is large enough, and has two partitions, can it be used to backup two PCs (with the proper license of course). It would have to be moved between the two PCs - probably daily. I am not recommending this - but will it work?

I'm having problems waking up my laptop and it might be due to Rebit trying to backup large (5+ gig file) virtual box image daily over USB 2. Other possible issues are windows search service and Norton full scans. Would it be possible to set Rebit to ONLY backup between the hours of 11pm and 6am? I suppose I could only plug in my external drive when I'm going to sleep...

Any advice? The problem I'm seeing is that my drive light is lit solid and the computer can be unresponsive for maybe 15 min while something is going on with the disk drive.

I've been testing rebit for a few days. I'm backing up a notebook to an external USB drive with the software installed. As it is a notebook, I need to disconect from the external drive occassionally. When I reconnect the backup takes a number of hours to complete. Why is this? It appears to be a differential backup as the backup size doesn't change much, but the backup seems way too long as only a couple of small text files changed. Does it take hours to check for changes since the last backup? I like the software, and the concept, but leaving the external drive backing up for hours everytime I disconect is not a practicle solution. Maybe it is a settings problem?

Hi.

1) I have got a PC with 2 Windows on it (multiboot). As I've read of a "one pc license" - will rebit activate under Windows 1 and Windows 2?

2) There are two partitions C: and D: - C: contains data of Windows 1, D: contains data of Windows 2 - BUT, when I boot Windows 2, drive letters switch (C->D, D->C). So that the booting partition becomes C automatically.
Can Rebit 5 cope with that? Both Windows(es) should backup to the same backup storage.

Thank you :)

My Rebit 5 is backing up my disk drive about every 30 minutes (or it feels that way at least). This interrupts other programs / downloads that need to access / update / change files on my C:/ drive while the backup is taking place, and back up that frequent just is not necessary for me.

I have a dynamic ip connection to the internet through a cable service. I have had, and can get again, a static address through one of the free services. So, with a static ip address to my home modem, is there a way I can set up my daughter's Windows 7 laptop with my 3-license copy of Rebit (she would be the third user, after myself and my wife's PCs)? I have a 3 terabyte drive, partitioned into three 1-terabyte partitions, anticipating one for each of us, in a DLink NAS on my home network. I am delighted in how well Rebit functions for both of us, and want the umbrella extended to my daughter's PC, even though she's 30 minutes away from my home. Can Rebit be configured to backup to a static IP address?

Several questions about Rebit 5:
1) Will latest Rebit enable backing up more than one drive (ie main hard drive and one external drive?)
2) Can one save a particular image or must one always restore from the latest version?
3) Can one easily access the backup to select just one file or must one use the Rebit software to do so?
4) Do you still have to have a backup drive devoted only for Rebit?
My questions are based on a recent web review that listed above as drawbacks of Rebit.(IE will backup only one drive, must devote one external drive only to Rebit, can't directly access rebit drive, etc.) I'm hoping latest version has corrected some of them. I read the FAQ and other product information on Rebit website but am not skilled enough to tell if my questions were answered...)

This is what I plan to do. Tell me if this is correct.

I bought a new computer with Windows 7. (My old computer uses Windows XP SP3.)

I plan to install all my software from original disks on the new computer. Then I plan to connect Rebit and drag the "My Documents" folder from Rebit to the equivalent place on the new computer.

I have all data in my "My Documents" folder- everything. Anything that I created that's not an application is in there.

Sounds simple. Is that the way to go?

What am I overlooking?

Scenario: USB disk connected to a NAS, to wirelessly use Rebit 5 from two laptops. This works nice, but the initial backup is slow. I assume that connecting the disk to the laptop directly might speed up things. After that, I would connect the disk to the NAS again and hope Rebit would continue where it left off.

More importantly: the same might apply when recovering a system.

So: can Rebit recognize the backup state when I change a disk from being a network disk to a directly connected disk, and vice versa?
