If your device is a NAS (Network Attached Storage) then you will be able to use NetSmart to backup both computers to this device in real time. If this is not a NAS device, then I will need further information regarding your configuration.

I have Save me Express installed on my desktop, providing real time backup to my satellite HD. I have recently procured a laptop, which is networked with and shares much of the same data and programs as my desktop.

My on line browsing has led me to hope that either my existing software, or software designed for a networked installation, can allow me to backup to the same satellite HD from both computers, on a real time basis, while in a network configuration.

Thank you for any information that can assist me to achieve this objective.

Regards,

E.A.

THX. I didn't realize that Rebit would have a preference. I completed the file conversion to NTFS and will see what happens with the backup.

The most likely reason for this is that the drive you are trying to backup is not formatted in NTFS. To find out, right-click Computer/My Computer and select Manage. From there, open up Disk Management in the options on the left. This will show you all the disks in the system. If it is indeed not NTFS, you can convert it to NTFS according to Microsoft's instructions found by through a search engine.

I installed REBIT several weeks ago. I want to include an external drive in the backup. I followed the instructions for adding a drive. The external drive appears in the list of drives and it remains checked, However, when I view the backeup files, I can only see the C and D drives.

The "More" -> "Select drives to back up" menu item is available in the latest update of software.

Right-click the small Rebit icon in the lower right corner of the screen and select "Check for Update" to apply the update.

Alternately, versions of Rebit software prior to 3.0.258.5181 will need to be reset. Visit this page for steps to reset and reinstall the Rebit software.

I installed this software about 12 hours ago.

I had EXACTLY the same issue as you .... no 'more' (except activate) ...now even that is gone.

Every time I'd put in a digit of my serial number, the 'creating recovery point' message box would grab the input focus away from the entry box...so I had to click on the serial number box about 20 times and enter one character at a time....) Finally I got all the digits in and it said 'activated'...now there is no 'more' option at all. And it is still doing it making my computer nearly impossible to use.

This appears to beta software to me, and we are its testers

1.Right-click the small Rebit icon in the lower right corner and select “More” -> “Select drives to back up”

My Problem!:

Upon right clicking the icon, I do Not get the option, "MORE". I want to deselect one of my internal drives; I understood that this is the method. Is it possible that my software is defective? Just got in mail today.
The first time I right clicked, I did see the option, MORE. I also saw one saying ACTIVATE. I clicked on that and the option, "MORE" disappeared without a trace -- even after reboots.
Can you help?
Thanks,

By default, Rebit backs up any hard disk drives considered internal hard drives by Windows. These include hard drives connected directly to the motherboard, as well as any Firewire or eSATA hard drives.

Additional hard drives, such as external USB hard drives, may be added to items backed up as follows:

Right-click the small Rebit icon in the lower right corner and select “More” -> “Select drives to back up”

Click to check the box(es) beside the drive(s) you wish to add

Click “Ok”

This assumes there is capacity available on the Rebit drive to back up the additional drives.
