Browsing SaveMe is SLOW

I'm running SaveMe 3.0.1035.7812 on WinXP with a 1TB Verbatim USB drive. When I open Rebit and try to browse the files, the explorer window is VERY SLOW. Takes 5s or 10s of minutes to open folders and sometimes (maybe a lack of willingness to wait on my part) the folders never open.

How do I correct or troubleshoot?

I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to transfer data & music files from the backup of my old Windows XP machine to my new Windows 7 machine and it's taking over 60 minutes so far just to try and display my "My Music" directory from the backup of the Windows XP machine.

Is this normal or is there a problem?

I have the same issue on my computer running Vista. On my wife's computer running XP I have no problems. I did not have this issue when I was running the older Rebit on this computer but I did have another problem that eventually killed the Rebit HD.

I was having this problem with one of my customer's PCs. It turned out that there were surface errors on the USB hard disk and it needed replacing.

This is with a brand new Rebit drive. I hope there are no surface errors on it.

Is this issue been addressed, it seems it is affecting the latest builds of Rebit Software. Thanks.

Is there ANY progess on this issue? It's been 6 months since I first posted and others seem to be having the same issue. I'm trying to browse my drive this eveing for a file. Rebit is virtually useless for this type of single file recovery. If I take the rebit drive to a seperate computer (that does not have rebit installed), I can browse and find files but I did not pay money for a backup process that forces me to find work arounds. Is this problem going to be addressed or are we going to have to abandon rebit?

The browsing speed is limited by the the system that you are using and by other factors, including, but not limited to USB data transfer speeds and the type of hard drive that is in the enclosure. The most important thing is that your files are backed up and can be recovered when the hard drive crashes.

Not if you can never GET to the files.

I have 4GB of RAM and I've been trying to open "My Documents" in SaveMe for the last 20 minutes. The little flashlight keeps looking but so far hasn't found any documents.

Can we have an updated answer to this question, please? It seems to be of concern to many. Thank you.

    Sasha, try this:
Go into your computer's My Documents folder, to the specific folder with the files you would like to see, and right-click on the file. You will see an option to Browse in Rebit. This should speed up the process of getting to this file on your Rebit.

Additionally, I find that there are certain files in the temporary folder that cause Rebit Browsing to run very slowly. I advise deleting everything in the temporary folder, especially any NSE files. To delete these, click Start and type "%temp% without the quotes. You can then CTRL+A to select everything and delete them all. If there are files that cannot be deleted, I would advice booting up in Safe Mode or Diagnostic Mode and deleting them there.

I have seen systems that were extremely slow sleep up tenfold after the temporary files were deleted.

I am running a new Windows 7 64-bit computer. i am trying to transfer files backed up onRebit onto this computer. Impossibly slow!!!!

I tries deleting all the files in my temp folder, but about 8 files, most, if not all, related to Rebit , will not delete. Windows tells me they are in use.

E.g., files named Rebit-SaveMe-NSE.dll, QtSqlREbit4.dll, QyGuiRebit4.dll, and 45 others. When I try to delete, I get the message "Action cannot be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer."

ReBit is disconnected, everything is off - why cannot I delete these? I have also rebooted and rebooted in SAFE mode. I still cannot delete them.

Rebit Support, you must tell me how to speed up and make use of this Rebit software.

    Hello Loree,

We are aware of this slow browsing issue and are working on this in the next release. In the mean time, if you cannot delete these files in safe mode, you can Run 'msconfig' and go to Selective Startup and un-tick everything. You can also mess with the boot tab. If you get it to boot the bare minimum it should allow you to delete these NSE files.

Also, am I understanding correctly: this is the same system that was backed up or is this on a different computer?
