Computer hangs when a file is right clicked

Running on XP SP3, whenever I right click on a file, the computer hangs with CPU utilization flat-lining at 100%.

Why does the USB drive have to be interrogated whenever I select a file or try to copy a file etc.

At this point in time the software is not usable if I want to do anything involving files on my computer.
Even opening a pain text document in notepad flatlines the CPU and takes about 2 mins to open. Once again the USB drive is interrogated.

Not a happy customer so far...

Does anyone have a similar problem or is it just my machine? Does anyone know of other alternatives like Oopsbackup? Pity, I like the concept of this software better, but cannot get it to play nice yet.

Let's try to isolate this. It may be a conflict with another application using a "Shell Extension" in Windows. The shell extension is the feature that allows applications to customize the menu that appears when right-clicking a file icon.

    1. Open a "My Computer" and navigate to C:\Program Files\Rebit\bin - for Windows 64-bit OS, change "Program Files" to "Program Files (x86)"
    2. Locate the file named "RebitShl.dll" or "Rebit-SaveMe-Shl.dll"
    3. Click "Start" -> "All Programs" -> "Accessories" -> right-click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run as Administrator"
    4. Type "cd \Program Files" and Enter (adjust this if necessary from the the name found in Step 1)
    5. Type "cd Rebit" and Enter (adjust this as necessary)
    6. Type "cd bin" and Enter
    7. Type "regsvr32 /u RebitShl.dll" and Enter (adjust the name as needed)

This will remove the Rebit item from the menu that appears when right-clicking a file icon (Shell Extension).

Unregistering Rebit-SaveMe-Shell.dll does indeed solve the problem of lag and lockups. System is as responsive as it ever was. Even Rebit runs faster.

This issue has been flagged for follow up by our Quality Assurance team. We intend to have this improved in a future release of software.

I would get help from seagate, but seagate doesn't seem to care about it's customers, and i can't afford to pay for their paid per incident tech support. Any way, here's my problem:

I have a 2 Tb. GoFlex Desk W/Replica auto-backup (Model STAC2000100). the Replica software is causing a hang when ever the mouse is right clicked. I've managed to track down the problem to a context menu extension called "ShellExt.ContextMenuExtension". The actual file name is called "Seagate-Replica-NSE.dll", file version is "3.0.1801.8554". I have been able to reproduce this problem on a different windows 7 system using another GoFlex of the same Model.
Disabling the shell extension seem to solve the explorer.exe crashing/hang on right mouse click issue. I would like to have a fully functional auto-backup software that cam with the drive, but seagate doesn't seem to care that thier software has some serious bugs. Please HELP ME!
