    Hi,

I had a system malfunction, so I downloaded the latest recovery boot CD image from Support, created the rebit boot CD and booted from it. When it gets to the part where it shows my external USB HD to restore from, I cannot select it. It has a red Lock icon next to it. I believe it is because I have set a rebit password for this backup archive. However, I am not prompted to enter the password to unlock it. Therefore, I cannot restore my backup data! Please advise!

    Thanks!

If you have a lock icon next to the drive, there are two ways to resolve this issue. The easiest is to connect your external drive to another computer and boot into Windows. Then, in the system tray, do a "Safely Disconnect" on the USB drive. Once it is disconnected, plug it into the system you are trying to restore and the lock will be removed.

The other option is to plug it into another computer and run a check disk on the external drive. Once it is complete, the lock will be removed.
