Trying to figure out why Rebit SaveMe is forever showing "Creating restore point" (to be more exact: "Herstelpunt wordt gemaakt" in the Dutch version, on Win XP Home Edition), I ran across some log files.
Rebit-SaveMe-Svc.exe-Error.log shows:
ERROR: TRSyncAbleFS_NTFS.DoSyncFull: DeviceIoControl failed!
Any hints as for where to take the troubleshooting from here?
The odd things is: while writing this, half an hour after the logged event shown above, Rebit SaveMe suddenly showed it copied 26,873 files. This is for an initial backup of 47,3 GB. Another file, Rebit-SaveMe-Tray.exe.log, shows (with dates removed for formatting):
18:03:50.546 | Software is unlocked!
18:03:50.546 | DEBUG: LoadLicenseDll: miActivate.Visible: False
18:03:50.718 | DEBUG: SendUserActivityMessage: ActivityState: 2 ActivityStateChanged: 10-4-2010 18:03:50

18:25:28.984 | DEBUG: Calling SHOpenFolderAndSelectItems...
18:25:32.375 | DEBUG: SHOpenFolderAndSelectItems succeeded!
After that, the popup window in the notification area (next to the Windows clock) again showed "Creating restore point" for many many minutes while I was typing this and searching for more details. MAYBE IT'S JUST THE NOTIFICATION THAT IS NOT UPDATED WHILE ACTUALLY BACKING UP? But then: SaveMe should only create a restore point once per day, right? Eventually this was followed by a brief "Completed creating restore point", immediately followed by "Creating restore point" again.
In tbe logs, endless repetitions like:
18:42:18.796 | DEBUG: SendUserActivityMessage: ActivityState: 1 ActivityStateChanged: 10-4-2010 18:42:18
18:42:57.968 | DEBUG: SendUserActivityMessage: ActivityState: 2 ActivityStateChanged: 10-4-2010 18:42:57
18:43:13.625 | DEBUG: Calling SHOpenFolderAndSelectItems...
18:43:14.859 | DEBUG: SHOpenFolderAndSelectItems succeeded!
18:43:41.609 | DEBUG: SendUserActivityMessage: ActivityState: 1 ActivityStateChanged: 10-4-2010 18:43:41
18:43:49.109 | DEBUG: SendUserActivityMessage: ActivityState: 2 ActivityStateChanged: 10-4-2010 18:43:49
Manually creating a restore point just takes a few seconds... Windows System Restore does not list the Rebit restore points, but neither does it on my mother's computer, which seems to be running Rebit without any issues.)
(I wish there were some preview in this forum, but that is not my main problem... ManyBRs were added while editing this post, which I had to remove manually...)
