Excessive memory use – I am 1 step away from uninstalling rebit

Rebit expands to occupy over 90% of available memory, and thus limits the functionality of key programs. Additionally, it frequently runs in excess of 100 instances of searchprotocolhost.exe, even during times of limited file I/O.

I originally purchased this product because I need CFP-based data protection. The only workaround that I have discovered is to pause Rebit so that I can get some work done, which obviously defeats the purpose of the Rebit software.

    This is very disappointing.

Note that this is on a fast i7-based 64b system with 12GB of memory.

At this point it looks as if I have no alternative to uninstalling the Rebit product.

I too found severe performance hits on my system while running Rebit and reported it some time ago. I uninstalled at that point since I couldn't afford the hit.

Unfortunately, The Rebit people adamantly refuse to give any indication of exactly which problems are fixed in any updates they release (which is totally beyond my comprehension). Apparently, in order for me to discover whether the problem has been fixed in each update, they expect me to go through the process of:

    - re-installing.
    - waiting out the initial, time-consuming backup.
    - running my software to see if the problem has yet been fixed.
    - uninstalling again if the problem persists.

    .... it ain't gonna happen.

DNAman- You and I are in complete agreement. This is a shameful way to run a development organization and, presumably, a company as well. From a look at the content of this forum, it is hard to take Rebit seriously any more.

Still, the info about cheap Chinese weddings is pretty interesting ...

I have been testing this software in order to make recommendations to my clients. I suspect I will not give this
    product high marks.

I will be de-installing this software today, probably shifting to Acronis.

Most outfits publish an ongoing bugfix readme with each update. It's incomprehensible to me why Rebit are so set against it.

I like the Chinese wedding stuff too!
