The Rebit full-system recovery process, also known as bare metal recovery or BMR, is intended to recover your computer from the Rebit backup to a replacement hard disk drive. For example, if the system hard disk drive were to fail, you would be able to purchase a replacement hard disk drive and insert it into the computer. After performing the full-system recovery, the system hard disk drive would contain the files and other information necessary for it to boot into Windows with your applications and data intact.
The basic steps for full-system recovery are
- Power down the computer
- Replace the system hard disk drive if necessary
- Power up the computer
- Eject the CD-ROM/DVD drive tray and insert the Rebit Recovery CD
- Allow the computer to boot from the CD (it may be necessary to access the system settings, or BIOS, to boot from the CD)
- Once the computer is started and a graphical screen appears, connect the Rebit drive
- Follow the on-screen prompts to select various settings, including the day to which you want to recover the computer
- Allow the process to transfer the appropriate data from the Rebit drive to the system hard disk drive
- At the end, when prompted, click "Restart" to power cycle the computer
- If the CD-ROM drive does not eject the CD automatically, press the eject button as the computer starts up
- The computer should boot into Windows
