Move files to a different computer question

The Rebit software manual says I can connect my Rebit drive to another computer, Browse for file, and copy the files to the PC. That's not working for me.

I'm using version 3.0.259.6452. When I plug the drive into the other WinXP PC (no Rebit installed on the PC) and Browse the drive, I only saw two files - Autorun.inf and Start.exe. When I change the folder options to show hidden files and folders, a Rebit folder appears but none of the subfolders in the hidden Rebit folder contain my data files in the clear. There are files (lots of files) in \Rebit\data\cfs but the filenames are all just long alphanumeric strings.

What am I doing wrong? I need to figure this out because I'm planning a WinXP to Win7 migration and I was hoping to use Rebit to move my datafiles into the new Win7 install.

When you connect the drive to the other computer, we expect the AutoRun behavior to launch the "Start.exe" software file you found when browsing the drive. If the software does not automatically start, double-click the "Start.exe" file to launch the software. After confirming that you want to run the software, you should then be given the option to "Browse" the data on the Rebit drive.

You are correct that there are a large number of files on the drive, but they need to be translated into a meaningful file and folder display with the software on the drive.

That did the trick. Thanks. I was not letting the AutoRun run because I thought that was going to install rebit on the second computer. When I let it run, I was presented with the option to 'Browse'.

    Thanks!
