NetSmart keeps restarting backup

    I am currently evaluating SaveMe and SaveMe NetSmart. The machine that is running NetSmart is configured like this:

    * 1 TB HD, system disk, "C:", about 80% space available
    * 1 TB HD (same kind), "D:", about 80% available
    * OS and all interesting user data is on "C:"
    * Folder "D:\Rebit" is a network share
    * NetSmart is configured to only backup "C:", "D:" was explicitly unchecked
    * NetSmart target network share is the shared D:\"Rebit" folder (I said 'Yes' when warned I shouldn't do this...)

    Everything starts up great, it says it creates a recovery point and then starts backing up "C:". Then, after a few hours, it again says its creating a recovery point. Is this normal.

    And this morning I luckily observed "C:" backup being cmpleted. It says "Completed backup of C:" and then... yes, it "created a recovery point" and started again at about 70000 files to go.

    There was no recovery point visible in the Rebit properties. Also the creationg phase (according to the tray icon's tooltip) takes at least 20 minutes, before the "backing up C:" is shown.

    I just reinstalled and checked VSS settings according to your posts, but that seems ok. Behavior is still the same as far as I can tell.

    I'd really love to use Rebit as it is exaclt what I was looking for for a while. Would be nice if you could give some clues to what could be wrong.

    Thanks a lot,
    Mike

    NetSmart is intended for NAS boxes, so if you are just planning to backup the system to a shared drive you will have much more success using SaveMe; not to mention it is cheaper. However, backing up to a shared drive should not be an issue, so I would recommend submitting your log files (located in the installation directory for Rebit on the C: drive) to support@rebit.com and explaining to them what you just posted here.
