Please understand that I am not at all a "techie". I recently purchased a Western Digital Elements 750GB portable hard drive and also purchased Rebit 5.0 (I have the CD).
My computer to be backed up is a Gateway GT5658E, operating sys is Windows 7 Ultimate. The hard drive is 500GB of which only 100GB is currently used.
The Rebit 5.0 installation and initial backup (took several hours) went smoothly (I think).
However, I wonder if things are working properly. The "activity lamp" on the WD Elements blinks constantly at a rate of about 2 blinks/second. As long as the computer is ON, the lamp never ceases blinking. In picking up the drive you can feel that the motor is constantly running. A click on the Rebit icon results in the message "Your computer is backed up Latest backup: it lists current date and current time (within the last 2 minutes)".
Is this normal or is there a problem?
Thanks for any info and/or suggestions.

This is normal behavior since Rebit provides live protection. As files are changing, Rebit will capture them and save them onto the drive. If you prefer not to use this feature, you can Safely Disconnect the Rebit drive and only connect it when you need to create a new recovery point.
