After installation, upgrading from version 3, Rebit 5 stops at the Dashboard display "Preparing to back up". There is a circular progress indicator which is in motion. I have let it sit this way for hours. Still no further action. If I look at the Rebit backup disk with Windows Explorer I see only 2 files - autorun.inf and start.exe. I have successfully used version 3 for several years. What am I missing? How do I get Rebit 5 to proceed?

It looks like the databases from Rebit 3 are corrupt and Rebit 5 cannot convert them to the Rebit 5 format. I would recommend formatting the drive and allowing Rebit 5 to backup your system instead of letting it keep trying to convert the databases and failing. The easiest way to do this is to take the drive to a system where Rebit is not installed and format it there.

I don't believe this to be true. I had a Rebit 3 drive and purchased a whole new larger 500gb Rebit 5 drive. I am having the exact same problem. I uninstalled Rebit 5 and started over. It did not ask me for my codekey again. It now says preparing for backup, then optimizing backup, then setting recovery point and goes thru everything at 100% then loops around and begins again. There is nothing on the drive.

@nkdeangel- I believe your Rebit 5 might be setup incorrectly, which you should contact support for assistance with. However, this behavior occurs if the system's Volume Shadow Service (VSS) is not working properly. Please provide support with your logs when requested so that they can make sure your system is working correctly.
