I have to chuckle here because it seems some things never change. We purchased a couple dozen copies of Rebit 3 for customers last year and only got about 20% of them running acceptably. After any bug occurred, the answer was always the same: Reset Rebit and update to the latest version. Our thought was, will the backup be viable if it is ever really needed? So, we moved our customers to Windows Backup and refunded their purchases. Windows Backup is not ideal, but at least it's reliable.
Now, with the buzz around Rebit 5, we decided to take another look. It appears to have some great new features, but I see from forum posts that Rebit hasn't changed its ways any. Rebit still hasn't achieved the level of reliability needed for backup.
That said, we're still going to donate our $20 to see what the state of the art is for Rebit these days. Will we recommend an upgrade to our customers? No way, until Rebit can show a solid track record of reliability and more responsive support.
