I recently installed a 1TB Rebit. My computer has a 1TB hard drive. My Rebit unit is now telling me that it is filled to capacity even though my hard drive still has 700GB free space. Why is this happening?

Please clarify, does the Rebit drive show 700GB free space while giving you this message or is the 700GB free on your system disk C:? Also, whats is the version of your Rebit?

My Rebit drive shows 900GB used while my C drive shows 700GB of free space. I cannot find a version number for my rebit. However my Rebit license key is ## (Admin removed key)

You have Rebit Single-PC version 3.0.258.xxxx

There are two things going on here. First, our latest software is supposed to remove older data files to make room for new ones. If yours is not doing this, then there is most likely an indexing corruption. Most of the time this is self corrected when you update to 8778, but in your case I would recommend resetting since you are getting this message. Once you reset Rebit will be able to remove older files properly using the NeverFull technology and you will not develop this issue again.

Second, regarding as to why your drive fills up so quickly, could be explained by the type of files you have on your system. For example, if a user has large video files that they edit periodically, Rebit will be backing up a copy every time it changes. So, even though the system drive doesn't get larger, the Rebit will. One way to correct this is to keep Rebit disconnected and reconnect it only when you want it to create a snapshot.

Thank you for your reply. I checked the Rebit Help file and there is no information on how to Reset. Can you tell me how to do this procedure? Thanks

I have reset my Rebit and the icon in the tool bar indicates that it is backing up my data. However when I go to "My Computer" the Rebit drive bar showing the capacity filled does not appear and the Rebit icon shows 0 data. Please advise.

Please right-click the frog icon in the tray and go to Properties. This will show you the capacity on the drive. Clicking on the My Rebit tab at the top will show you the recovery points for your system.

For some reason the fron icon is not appearing in the tray even though the Rebit is on. I turned it off and then back on but the icon still does not appear.

To reset the icon, go to Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and under the Processes tab find RebitTray.exe and End the Process. It will automatically come back and should reapper in the tray.

After functioning normally for the past month, once again my drive is filled. At this point I feel I am either entitled to a refund or a new unit

The drive filling up is normal, however, the indication of Rebit (v 3.0.258.8778) not working would be if you no longer have any recovery points being created. Please right-click the frog icon and select Properties. On the Properties window, click on the second tab and you will see a list of your recovery points.

The only way for the indexes to be corrupted in version 8778 is with incorrect usage of the drive by the user. For instance, if the user does not use Safely Disconnect to remove a drive or turns off the power to the drive, a corruption on the drive could occur and this would be a symptom.
