Rebit in infinite initial backup loop - vista 32bit

My computer is in an infinite initial backup loop. I am using vista 32bit home premium, service pack 2, backing up to a NAS volume, and using a 5pc registered version. I have McAfee and have disabled its on demand scan. I have tried disabling internet access so it only sees the local network. Tried disabling wireless and using a wired connection to the NAS. Tried shutting down all unnecessary services and processes. Set the power to always be on and never go to the screen saver or turn off the display. Tried uninstalling and downloading the installer. Checked this forum and followed all the steps for resetting the vss. Yet still now 5 days into this I am still in infinite loops. It gets a percentage done, even 100, and then starts over again with initializing backup. It never completes and there are no recovery points found. I am at a loss as to what to do. I would not be so determined to get this to work and just send it back, but it worked like a charm on my xp professional machine from 2006. Any ideas or suggestions?

I'm having the same issue, but on win 7 64bit... I get to 98.5 or 98.6% and then rebit starts all over and rapidly gets to 98% or so and then starts all over. I've done much of the steps the OP made.

I have deleted the rebit backup files through the program, tried again, same thing. Formatted the drive and tried again, same thing. The only thing I haven't done is uninstall Rebit and reinstall.

I know of no way to check logs. This does seam to be related to the update version of Rebit, the last version was flawless.

I'm tempted to roll back and see what happens.

3 weeks later, and no comments?

    Win 7 64bit

    The loop continues.
I have uninstalled rebit, cleared the registry, deleted all hidden files and folders pertaining to rebit, ran all sorts of disk utilities, deleted or replaced files that were showing up as an issue in the rebit log, defragged all drives to be backed up, formatted the back up drive, downloaded a "new" copy of the same release number, reinstalled Rebit, and after a about 24 hours of backing up, it still it will not complete a recovery point.

Gets to 100% though now, and then Optimizing Back Up and then ... you think it's done, it's thinks about it for a second, and then Preparing Back Up

    Arrgg.

This is ridiculous. It's not me, it's you.

    Hi Axiom,

There is definitely an issue here as this is unusual behavior. Please email support if you have not done so already so that they can look at the log files for Rebit and determine what is causing this loop.
