I have backed up my hard drive from my computer in FL. I have the cable and hard drive and Rebit disk. I would like to recover some of the files on the hard drive and copy them to my computer in NJ but cannot seem to get it done. I need some help in doing this. I do not want to take everything off the present computer to copy the entire HD and erase my present info. Thanks.

The Rebit software has a feature that allows you to connect the device to the second computer and simply browse the files on the device. This operation below will not install any backup software - it will just provide access to the data for copying data.
- Connect the device to the USB port of the computer
- If prompted, allow the software on the external device to run
- If NOT prompted, open a "My Computer" or "Computer" window and locate the disk drive with the Rebit icon - double click the icon and then double click the "Start.exe" item to launch the software
- A window will appear indicating that there is data on the external drive and provide a button named "Browse" - click "Browse" to access the data on the Rebit
- Double-click the appropriate system name if shown and then navigate through the folders displayed to the files of interest
- If copying a large number of files and folders, please highlight the items, right-click on one of the items, and select "Copy"
- Then, browse to the folder on the computer where you wish the files to be copied to, right-click in an area empty of icons and select "Paste"
- When finished, close any Rebit windows, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the lower right corner, and select the external disk drive to disconnect it
- If you wish to regain access to the Rebit drive after a disconnect, restart the computer prior to connecting the device (this will ensure any partially uninstalled files have been removed prior to re-installing the browser software

I followed the instructions above for copying files from an XP computer to a new Windows 7 computer. I can get through #4 above easily, but when I double-click on My Rebit system folder on the Windows 7 computer, nothing happens. I would have thought the folders that were backed up would be visible. It shows the Rebit Drive using 385 GB so I know something is there. I just can't access it. Thanks for your help.
