I have just started my first backup with Rebit 5. It has taken 3 hours to backup 5.5%. My question is, can I shut down my computer and will rebit start the backup from where is left off or start from scratch?

Looks like no one reads this forum then, shame. Software is pretty good, pity about the help service.

People do read the forums and do try to help if they can. I guess no one who's been around knows the answer to your question (*)
Admins seem to check in every few days (or so) and I'd agree that's of limited help for questions such as yours which is a "now" kind of situation.
(* It would be encouraging - and help others coming later - if people who do get their problems resolved by other members here, would report that fact rather than taking the answer and disappearing).

Isn't there a huge "Pause" button on the Rebit progress screen during the first backup?
The manual states:
Tips for Making the First Recovery Point Go Faster
[..]
- Avoid using the Pause button....which to me suggests you could simply press that. See also "Pausing your Backup" in the manual. I've never used that button though.
