System does not recover using rebit

I am trying to recover my system using rebit. I can boot to the cd and go through the process of rebuilding. But when I try to reboot, I get a blue screen error and windows reports it needs to repair. When I run the startup repair (Vista OS) it runs but eventually fails.

So in a nutshell, rebit is unable to recover my system. What am I doing wrong?

I found that a faulty hard drive was giving me problems. Once I replaced it, everything went fine.

    Thanks rebit.

I am having this same problem. I already ran the disk check; it was fine. I tried to repair my XP Pro operating system but that kept failing with missing file messages; so I ended up reinstalling XP Pro. I was nervous about initializing the disk but not overly worried because I knew my Replica backup was fine; I had just used it the day before to restore a Visio file which I could open and modify.

Once I got XP Pro reinstalled, I followed the Replica recovery instruction, inserted the recovery disk and rebooted the system; I got a lot of white writing on a black screen, looked like some DOS and then nothing . . . :(

I rebooted to XP Pro to look at the Replica harddrive using My Computer. It showed what looked like a brand new disk w/o any data on it!!! BUT if I right clicked and selected properties, I could see that a bit over 50% of the 500G is used.

Not having a clue how to get at the data, I took my computer (DELL XPS710) to the Geeks at Best Buy and they said they could recover my data, no problem. That was 6 days ago.
    /cry

Today I called them again, this has been a daily occurance as they can't seem to remember to call my cell phone and instead continue to leave messages at my home, (HELLO!) I'm at work LOL . . . anyhow, they have finally come to the conclusion that there is something wrong with the Replica image. Of course that is my original complaint so I'm glad that we are at the very least, finally in agreement.

Apparently they were able to get the replica to restore, but are now getting exactly what you described above, blue screens and crashes. I authorized them to escalate the problem (read "additonal charges" here); but I'm really beginning to have a meltdown thinking my data is not recoverable or that at least 'they' don't have the knowledge to restore it :(

So here's my question, is there a way to pull the data off the replica drive when the operating system in the image is irrepreably hosed?

<- trying to remain calm and mentally tackling all those little blue men running about inside my head screaming and freaking out.

    Please help.
    Thanks ~ Basticar

While technically we are not supposed to troubleshoot Replica software since Seagate has purchased the rights to it, data protection is our life and we take it very seriously. We try to do everything possible to help our customers recover their data and your case would not be an exception to this. I would recommend contacting Seagate to have them assist you since they are the only ones that can legally escalate to us.

While there is no way to know for sure without looking at your device, I would like to reassure you that your data is most likely still on there and can be recovered even if the system is not bootable after a restore.
