Rebit refuses to install because it is unable to copy the Recycle Bin on my target drive to another drive. My OS is Windows 7. The target drive I am attempting to use for Rebit is an Iomega 320 gig external drive. I reformatted the Iomega drive to delete all files on it. The only file/directory I cannot remove is the Recycle bin, and as I mentioned, Rebit cannot copy the Recycle bin to another drive. As a result, the installation process stops.

Even after the format operation, there remains a Recycle Bin? And you are logged into Windows as an "Administrator" type user?
A workaround is to follow these steps:
- Click "Start" -> "All Programs" -> "Accessories" -> Right-click the "Command Prompt" icon and select "Run as administrator"
- Type "G:" and Enter (replace "G:" with the drive letter of your external hard disk drive)
- Type "cacls $Recycle.Bin /E /G Everyone:F" and Enter
- Install Rebit as before
This will make the folder accessible, copy friendly, and delete friendly.Posted 2 years ago #
