Unable to Install

Rebit refuses to install because it is unable to copy the Recycle Bin on my target drive to another drive. My OS is Windows 7. The target drive I am attempting to use for Rebit is an Iomega 320 gig external drive. I reformatted the Iomega drive to delete all files on it. The only file/directory I cannot remove is the Recycle bin, and as I mentioned, Rebit cannot copy the Recycle bin to another drive. As a result, the installation process stops.

Even after the format operation, there remains a Recycle Bin? And you are logged into Windows as an "Administrator" type user?

A workaround is to follow these steps:

    1. Click "Start" -> "All Programs" -> "Accessories" -> Right-click the "Command Prompt" icon and select "Run as administrator"
    2. Type "G:" and Enter (replace "G:" with the drive letter of your external hard disk drive)
    3. Type "cacls $Recycle.Bin /E /G Everyone:F" and Enter
    4. Install Rebit as before

This will make the folder accessible, copy friendly, and delete friendly.
